Scott White heads into the Lady Daley Hotel Spring Nationals this weekend in Adelaide sitting in fourth place in the 2012-13 ANDRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship.

After four rounds in the championship, White’s best finish this season so far was at the Nitro Champs where he qualified second, held Top Speed in qualifying and went out in the semi finals.

His nearest rival is Victorian Glenn Wooster. The pair has been battling it out all year with White currently holding a narrow three-point lead over Wooster, who sits in fifth.

It all began at the Nationals last November when Wooster finished on a three-point lead over White. Round two of the championship moved to Adelaide in February and saw the pair move up the ladder two spots into 5th and 6th with White closing the gap to just one point. Round 3 was the Nitro Champs in May and this saw White move ahead of Wooster into fourth, up two places. Round 4 was the Winternationals and White was confident to extend his gap even further. However rained stopped eliminations, and with qualifying points earned, the pair remained locked.

“That was how we also qualified (4th and 5th) at Willowbank,” said White. Both riders ran side-by-side identical ETs of 7.449 with White recording the higher speed.

“Glenn is running a Trevor Birrell engine so that’s tough and I believe he has a new combo for Adelaide. I have rebuilt the spare engine and feel like we are in a very good position. I am a lot more comfortable with my riding and confident that we now have some consistency that we lacked before. We had a problem with torching pistons, which came down to issues with the jets.

“At the Winters I had two sets of carbies one of which was the old combo and the other one testing a few ideas I have. The result saw the AMPAC Advanced Warning Systems Suzuki run 7.4s on both sets.

“I arrived at Adelaide nice and early after driving from Darwin on my own. The reason for that was so I could spend a few days at Jim Hanlon’s shop – Super Bike Performance. I have some ideas with carburation and having the use of the dyno is very handy to steer us in the right direction.”

Hanlon is a former Pro Stock Motorcycle racer himself and went on to record the first 160 mph run at Eastern Creek back in the early 90s.

“Obviously I want to run quicker so hopeful Adelaide could bring me a win which I believe is just around the corner. I am familiar with the track and while we all know that can be a tricky, we are totally prepared. Along with Jim I will have a new crew for this meeting one of which is a new Pro Stock bike racer who will eventually be putting his wife on the seat. They are keen to learn the ropes and lend a hand for which I am very grateful.
